THE CREEPY CHRONICLES

Recently, a woman left a one-star review for my book Collette's Dream Man. Her tersely-worded writeup had little to say about the actual book ostensibly under discussion; rather, she only wished to register her disapproval of the author and his choice of subject matter, given what she understood to be his profession:

"I find it creepy (she wrote) that the author is a professor at a school in Savannah and wrote about an inappropriate student relationship based in Savannah... just saying."

Of course, I am no longer an instructor (and I never was a professor), but the promiscuously-cast implicit aspersions of this female non-fan prompted me to cogitation on what it means to bear the presumption of "creepiness" under such circumstances... and how such a case relates to the a culture that is increasingly unforgiving of low-status men, particularly the much-in-the-news-of-late "incel" population.

FEMALE REVIEWER CALLS ME 'CREEPY,' IMPLIES BAD BEHAVIOR:

WHY THAT FEMALE REVIEWER *REALLY* FINDS ME 'CREEPY'
